Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using Echo Stories English (https://echostoriesenglish.com, the “Service”), you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please stop using the Service.

2. The Service

The Service helps you learn English through stories: a placement test and level tests on the CEFR scale, lessons built around what you need to learn, audio, scheduled reviews and a knowledge map that tracks your progress.

Some content (stories, exercises, explanations, word meanings) is created with the help of artificial intelligence and reasonably reviewed, but it may still contain mistakes. The Service is a learning aid; it does not replace a teacher or official exam materials.

We may add, change or discontinue features to improve the Service.

3. Accounts

• You can try the Service anonymously: your progress is tied to the browser you use and may be lost if you clear its data.
• Sign in (Google or email) to save progress to an account and use it across devices. You are responsible for keeping your email account and devices secure.
• Information you provide must be accurate. Each account is for one person; do not sell, rent or share accounts for commercial purposes.
• If you are under 16, you need the consent of a parent or guardian to use the Service.

4. Paid plans and payments

• The Free plan limits the number of new lessons and tests per time window; reviews are always free. The limits and benefits of each plan are shown on the Pricing page at the time of purchase.
• Paid plans are prepaid per period (month or year). They do NOT renew automatically and you are never charged automatically. When a period ends, your account returns to the Free plan and your progress is kept.
• Payments are processed by third-party gateways (bank transfer / bank QR via payOS, or PayPal). We do not receive or store your card number or banking credentials.
• Upgrades start immediately, and the unused part of your old plan is credited against the price. Downgrades start when your current plan ends. Renewals continue from the end of the current period. The exact calculation is shown before you confirm a payment.
• Promo codes follow the conditions of each campaign and do not stack. Prices may change for future purchases; a period you have already paid for is not affected.

5. Refunds

Within the first 7 days after payment, if it is not right for you, send a request from Me → Plan & usage: light use gets a 100% refund, heavier use is refunded for the unused days.

The refund conditions shown on the Pricing page at the time of purchase apply to your order. A paid plan change (upgrade or downgrade) cannot be undone. For payment support, contact us by email at [email protected] and include your order code.

6. Acceptable use

When using the Service you agree not to:

• bulk-copy, crawl, scrape or redistribute questions, answers, lessons or audio;
• interfere with the system, probe it for vulnerabilities, bypass usage limits or disrupt it;
• use the Service for unlawful purposes or to infringe the rights of others;
• impersonate others or create multiple accounts to abuse offers.

7. Intellectual property

The interface, software, stories, exercises, audio and the Echo Stories English brand belong to us or our licensors. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use them for learning.

Some dictionary data comes from open sources; the source and licence are shown where that data appears, and that content remains subject to its own licence.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is”. We work to keep it accurate and reliable, but we do not warrant that it is error-free or uninterrupted, or that it guarantees any particular learning outcome or exam score.

To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any damage arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the previous 12 months.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account yourself on the Me page → Danger zone: the account is locked immediately and permanently deleted after ${ACCOUNT_DELETION_GRACE_DAYS} days (sign in again within that time to cancel); any active paid plan is lost without a refund for the unused part. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or put the system or other users at risk.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the new version takes effect on the date shown at the top of this page. For significant changes we will give notice on the website or by email. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam. Disputes are first resolved by negotiation; failing that, by the competent courts of Vietnam.
